  1. Do I need a credit card to rent a unit?
    It is preferred.  However, if you do not have one we can make arrangements with proper identification.
  2. Do you require a security deposit to rent a unit?
    Yes.  We require a full months rent as security when you rent your unit.  This deposit will be returned to you when you have vacated your unit and left it in a clean and undamaged condition.
  3. When can I expect my security deposit back?
    Your security deposit will be issued within 10-15 business days after move out.
  4. Can I have 24-hour access?
    Yes, if our regular access hours from 6am-11pm are still not adequate for your specific needs then, 24-hour access may be granted upon request.
  5. What is PIN Code access?
    Each of our units are individually alarmed.  You will choose a code that will allow you to enter the building and will disarm your unit and re-arm your unit each time you come and go.
  6. What happens if we are locked in the facility after hours?
    You will still be able to leave the building however, an alarm will sound when you open the doors.  You will then need to contact the emergency cell number in order to have the main gates opened for you to exit the property.
  7. Can a unit have more than one access code if more than one person is using it?
    Yes, each person you authorize on your contract to enter your unit, should have their own access code.
  8. Can I stay for less than one month?   Is there a minimum stay required?
    Yes.  While the minimum rental charge is 2 weeks, you may move in or out within a shorter period of time if you choose to.  You must notify staff when moving in, if your stay is going to be short-term as we do have a 28 day notice policy for most rentals.
  9. When is rent due?
    Your rent is due on the first day of each rental period.  Usually, the day you move in and every 4 weeks thereafter.
  10. Do I need insurance?
    We do recommend it as we can not insure your belongings.  Your basic home policy should be reviewed as it may provide some coverage for storage.  Should you require additional insurance we would be happy to recommend a local broker who will be pleased to help.
  11. Do you have indoor vehicle storage? 
    Yes, you may store vehicles inside our larger units.  There are restrictions and requirements when the vehicle is stored – please contact our location for more details.
  12. Can I leave gas in the gas tank?
    No.  When storing vehicles in an indoor unit, vehicles must be empty of fuel and other similar substances (propane tanks for recreational vehicles).
  13. Can we store paint or other similar materials used for our business?
    In order to maintain our fire and safety standards, no hazardous, flammable or explosive material, fluid, or chemicals are permitted.  This includes paint.
  14. What is the temperature of the units?
    All of our buildings are heated to help prevent mold and mildew.  While we do not cool the buildings we try to ensure that the temperature is at least and average of 10°C.  These buildings are massive so the temperature does vary from one place to another and depending on whether you have a small indoor unit on the second floor vs. a large outdoor unit.
  15. Why is there an opening along the top of the unit?
    To ensure adequate airflow for the heated buildings.  Depending on which building you are in you either have mesh over the top of your unit, or bars or mesh between the units.
  16. Can we install shelves?
    Yes, of course you may install free standing shelves in the unit, ensuring that they are completely removed upon move out and that there has been no damage to the walls of the unit.
  17. Why do only large units have individual lights?
    Our hallways are well-lit and provide lighting for our smaller units but as you move deeper into a large unit in some cases additional lighting is required.
  18. What age does your senior’s discount begin at?
    65.
  19. Can I work out of my unit during the day?
    We are a secure storage facility.  Should you wish to access your belongings while they are in storage of course you may.  We only require that the unit door be left open at all times while you are in your unit as this is a fire regulation.
  20. Do you have outdoor storage?
    Yes.  We have outdoor spaces for vehicles as long as 40 feet.  We do require a copy of your registration and insurance (storage insurance is ok) to be placed on file.
  21. Can we use the dumpster?
    Yes, with special arrangements at the office.  A dumping fee will apply based on the size and/or weight of the item(s).
  22. Will we accept deliveries to units?
    Yes, we will accept deliveries to our office.  You may then come in and pick up your delivery when it is convenient for you.  There is a small fee in place for this service.

Current Customer Questions

  1. Can I change how I make my payment?
    Yes.  You may notify our office at anytime should you wish to switch to one of our automatic payment plans or make any other arrangements that you may require.
  2. Do we have to give notice when moving out?
    We require 28 days notice prior to moving out.  Also, once you have completely vacated the unit, you must let the office know so that a unit inspection may be conducted.  
  3. What happens if I pay my rent late?
    Your access will be suspended and a late fee(s) will apply.  If you have not paid your rent for 45 days your unit will be sent to Baliff.
  4. When will I get my security deposit back?
    Your security deposit will be issued within 10-15 business days after move out.
  5. Why can’t my security deposit be applied to my last month’s rent?
    Because it is just that, a security deposit.  We require your unit to be empty and clean in order to return this to you and it is not possible for us to view your unit in this condition until after you have moved out.
  6. Where can we dump our unwanted furniture or other belongings?
    Our staff can give you access to our roll-off bin to dump items; large or small.  A dumping fee will apply based on the item(s).

 

Security Questions

  1. Is your facility alarmed?
    Yes.  In fact, each and every unit has its own individual alarm.
  2. Is your facility gated?
    Yes.  Our entire perimeter is fully fenced and requires key pad access to enter.
  3. Do you have a guard dog?
    Yes, at our Surrey facility we do.
  4. Can I have 24-hour access?

Packing Supplies Questions

  1. Can I phone in an order for packing supplies ahead of time?
    Yes, of course, we would be pleased to prepare your order for pick up at your convenience.
  2.  Do you require a credit card or deposit to rent the moving straps?
    Yes.  Please see the office for more information.
  3. Can I reserve moving straps for rental?
    Yes.
  4. Do you have dollies for rent?
    No, because our dollies are FREE!  If you wish to reserve the use of one please call the office.
  5. Do we sell tape guns?
    Yes, this is another highly used packing supply that we carry.
  6. Do you sell locks?
    Yes.  We have a variety of types to choose from in our office.
  7. If I don’t use all of the supplies I purchased, can I return the unused items?
    Yes.  You may bring back any unused and/or unopened items within 7 days.  A full refund will be provided upon presentation of your receipt.
